Long-term care reflects societal values that are rarely articulated and even less often measured. A comparison of value preferences of various respondent groups involved in nursing home care revealed that although values varied by resident status, there were large areas of agreement. Family members of nursing home members, however, most often differed from other groups. Findings suggest that it is useful and feasible to probe for value preferences related to long-term care outcomes.
