This paper gives examples of research studies and applications carried out in France in the field of laminar-turbulent transition. These investigations are illustrated by typical results obtained in subsonic flows : Direct Numerical Simulations of localized receptivity, nonlinear stability computation by Parabolized Stability Equations, simplified linear stability methods, wind tunnel experiments on the effects of suction, flight tests with laminar flow control. European cooperations are also presented.
