It is generally accepted that cancer development in many organs or tissues and with different types of carcinogenic stimuli, including chemicals, radiations and at least some viruses, involves a stepwise process in which new cell populations are regularly seen [1-4]. Some of these new cell populations function as the sites of origin of yet another new or altered non-cancerous cell population. With each step, the process shows an increased probability of evolving ultimately into a malignant neoplastic population that continues to undergo this progression until the death of the cancer cells or of their host.
