A new filled skutterudite SmFe 4 As 12 has been synthesized at high temperature and high pressure. The magnetic properties of this compound was studied in terms of electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, magnetization, and specific heat measurments. SmFe 4 As 12 shows a magnetic transition at T A = 39 K. Temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility and field dependence of T A observed in the specific heat measurement suggest ferrimagnetic alignment of the magnetic moments of Fe 3 d band and Sm 4 f electrons below T A .
