A synthetic polynucleotide and turnip yellows mosaic virus RNA were among the most active of various RNA templates in stimulating polymerase activity. The enzyme was found in apparently healthy plants but its specific activity increased during the first week of TYMV infection and it was not clear whether the enzyme was coded by the viral or plant genome.-Inst. nat.
