On Describing the Hydraulic Properties of Unsaturated Soil in Piedmont of Mt.Taihang

Seven sets of data from the piedmont of Mt.Taihang were used to evaluate three widely used equations:Brooks Corey,van Genuchten and Broadbridge White,on the description of soil retention curves.The results showed that the all three equations gave relative good description of water content and water potential,but there were discrepancies between calculated K and D from the retention curves using Burdine and Mualem analytical functions and the measured K and D values The best model for calculation of K and D at the sampling site is using van Genuchten equation to describe the retention curves with the condition of m=1-2/n,then using Burdine analytical function to calculate K and D
