34 JOURNAL OF PSYCHOLOGY current along the superior margin of the temporal lobe just below the Sylvian vessels, and another one was made transversely across the posterior part of the temporal lobe just posterior to the small anastomatic vein of LabbC. This vein was coagulated and cut. The entire temporal lobe anterior to this incision was then removed exposing the floor of the middle fossa, the side of the sella turcica, and the third cranial nerve. The temporal horn of the lateral ventricle was opened. The dura was sutured, the bone flap replaced and the scalp and the muscle closed with several layers of silk sutures.
