This article focuses on a research related to the chemoattractive potency of periodontal ligament, cementum and dentin for human gingival fibroblasts. Based on recent evidence that treatment of the root surface provides suitable conditions for the formation of new connective tissue attachment, various root treatments have been tried during periodontal surgery, the application of citric acid being reported most often. Fifty premolars extracted from orthodontic patients, 12 to 16 years of age, were used in this study. After extraction, the teeth were thoroughly washed in a phosphate-buffered saline and then the following tissue samples were prepared.
