A model equation for phase separation introduced by Eguchi‐Oki‐Matsumura (EOM) is investigated. The behavior of steady state solutions is analyzed when the parameter, which depends on the ratio of the surface energy, tends to zero. The problem is a kind of singular perturbations in the sense that the coefficient of the highest order derivative is very small. Analytical convergence results are established.
