Employees’organizational assimilation (OA) research and practice have been hampered by the unsatisfactory psychometric properties of the existing scales of assimilation-specific adjustment measures (ASAM) and by the contamination of study findings using these problematic scales. To work around this problem, this study seeks to develop a new ASAM scale from an integrative perspective using luxury hotel samples on Hainan Island, China. The proposed and validated ASAM scale comprises six factors, i.e., task mastery, fitting in, standing out, role negotiation, membership identification, and interpersonal relationships. The new scale contributes to the literature substantially as, for example, it possesses satisfactory psychometric properties. This paper also delves into implications for theory and practice as well as directions for future OA research.
