On the basis of deepgoing studies on MTBF assurance test procedure suggested in MIL-HDBK -781, this paper investigates the test prerequisite conditions and effects, and consumer's risks. Fur- thermore. It is demonstrated, focusing on the features of ship products, in terms of theory and practice, that the MTBF assurance test is practical in technique and acceptable in risk to the consumer.
