The temperature dependence of electric susceptibility is studied in L-p-decyloxybenzylidene-p'-amino-2methylbutyl-cinnamate (L-DOBAMBC) and a behaviour resembling the Curie-Weiss law is observed in a small temperature range at the smectic-A to smectic-C phase transition. The spontaneous polarization is estimated from the D-E hysteresis curve to be about 0.01 µ/cm2 at 80°C.
