MethodsThis cohort study included Medicare beneficiaries aged 65+ who resided in larger (25+ beds) ALs in January 2017, were followed prospectively, and died in 2017–2019. AL residents were identified using ZIP codes. 5 Data were sourced from Medicare enrollment and claims records.
