Nanoscale Horizons Community Board member Dr Ignacio Insua (Nacho) obtained his PhD in 2018 under the supervision of Dr Paco Fernandez-Trillo (University of Birmingham, UK). He carried out postdoctoral stays in the groups of Prof. Greg G. Qiao (University of Melbourne, Australia) and Prof. Javier Montenegro (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela, Spain), where he is currently appointed as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow. His expertise focuses on soft antimicrobial nanomaterials based on peptide and polymer chemistry with applications in bacteria-targeted drug delivery and hyperbranched polymeric nanoparticles. Complementary interests include supramolecular self-assembly, 2D nanomaterials and systems chemistry in the context of life-mimicking protocells.
