Poststreptococcal syndrome (PSS) is a systemic autoimmune reaction that involves various organs. Rheumatic fever, glomerulonephritis, and erythema nodosum (EN) are the most common clinical manifestations of PSS. Anterior uveitis and, less frequently, posterior uveitis were previously reported as ocular manifestations of PSS. 1, 2 Erythema nodosum is a cutaneous sign of several kinds of infectious and autoimmune diseases. The more common cause of EN is after an upper airway streptococcal infection. Erythema nodosum’s histopathologic features are peculiar to a neutrophilic reaction against the small vessels in the subcutaneous tissue with an inflammatory infiltrate and intravascular fibrin deposition with vascular occlusion. We describe a case of poststreptococcal EN and bilateral choroiditis with the features of acute posterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy. The pathogenesis of the choroiditis is discussed on the grounds of the indocyanine green (ICG) and fluorescein angiography (FA) images.
