To examine whether premenopausal reproductive age, as indicated by serum anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH), is associated with leukocyte aging biomarkers. Prospective cohort analysis The Coronary Artery Risk Factors in Young Adults Study (CARDIA), a population-based study of black and white adults Premenopausal women with serum AMH measures at exam year 15 as well as leukocyte aging markers. Telomere length, mitochondrial DNA copy number, and intrinsic and extrinsic epigenetic age acceleration at exam years 15, 20 and 25, as well as change between exam years. Women were aged 40.2 (SD 3.7) years of age at exam year 15, when AMH and initial measures of telomere length and mitochondrial DNA copy number (n=386), and epigenetic age acceleration occurred. After adjustment for chronologic age, race, and smoking history, AMH quartile at exam year 15 was not associated with telomere length at exam year 15, 25, or telomere length change between these years; mitochondrial DNA copy number at exam year 15, 25, or change between these years, or intrinsic epigenetic age acceleration at exam year 15, 20, or change between these years. Women in the 2nd AMH quartile had faster extrinsic epigenetic age acceleration compared to women in the lowest AMH quartile (beta-coefficient 1.84, 95% confidence interval 0.20, 3.49). In a population-based cohort, AMH did not have associations with leukocyte telomere length, mitochondrial DNA copy number, or intrinsic epigenetic age acceleration.
