Syntagmatic models", put forward by Hodge Kress, is an important analytical framework of critical linguistics. Based on this framework, a comparative study of news discourse concerning the"Sino-US plane collision"event from China Daily and The New York Times reveals that both reports are biased, either in event description or in image construction of the two nations.
