This paper presents the results of applying dynamic control allocation to a dual control missile that utilizes aerodynamic tails and reaction jet controls. First, the 6DOF nonlinear and linearized equations of motion for a missile with both aerodynamic and propulsive control are presented. The relationship between actual control deections and the forces and moments (virtual controls) are developed. Two missile con gurations are examined one with the reaction jets between the tails, and one with them near the front of the missile. In the former, the applied controls predominantly generate moments, while in the latter both forces and moments are generated by the controls. Most applications of control allocation to ight vehicles only consider moment control. Here, we will consider both force and moment control by using a dual control autopilot developed in previous work. The autopilot is classical in structure, which allows for ease of gain scheduling, yet includes models of sensors and actuators for realism. Full nonlinear simulations are presented for gains varying with both angle-of-attack and sideslip.
