A number of reviews of hydrogen atom reactions have appeared in the past. The most notable example is the excellent book by Steacie, 1 which includes a very de-tailed examination of the hydrogen atom reactions up to 1954. Although several reviews have appeared since 1954, they have generally been on specific aspects of hy-drogen atom reactions or on particular areas where hy-drogen atoms have played an important role. For exam-ple, in 1963, Cvetanovic2 reviewed the reactions of hy-drogen atoms with olefins. Perhaps the most comprehen-sive review since Steacie's book was that by Thrush3 in 1965 which includes work up to 1964.
