ResultsPlots of chemical shift vs. temperature for the base and ribose V nonexchangeable protons of CCGGp, CCGGAp, ACCGGp, CCGGUp, and ACCGGUp are shown in Figures 1-5. The chemical shifts at high and low temperature are listed in Tables I and II, respectively. Also listed in Table II are the chemical shifts measured for CCGG at 7 C. Resonance assignments for CCGGAp, ACCGGp, and ACCGGUp were made with the aid of the nuclear Overhauser effect (NOE)(Petersheim & Turner, 1983b). ForCCGGp and CCGGUp, assignments were made by comparison with CCGGAp, ACCGGp, and ACCGGUp and with predicted chemical shifts (Hader et al., 1982).
