For lists of words in which there is no sequential association between adjacent words the last items are recalled most frequently, the first items next most frequently, and the middle items least frequently. For connected discourse the order of recall is in the order with which the material is presented." Thus, recall of sequentially dependent material involves more than the organization of words into larger groups, it also involves the reorganization of the patterns of emission of responses and changing the relative frequency with which items in various positions are recalled."(PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
