Analysis of records of nearly 14,000 male and female infants shows that birth wt. and days of gestation are correlated (r+0.4); that birth wt. increases with parity, but decreases slightly with mother''s age; that the correlation of mother''s age and parity is 0.5. A calculation of survival rates showed the most favorable point to be above mean weight, at nearly 8 lb. For gestation time the highest survival rate was close to the mean value. Parabolas give a good fit to the logarithm of odds on survival for given birth wt. for males and females. Tables and diagrams are provided for estimating the survival rate for any given wt. and gestation time.
