(1)The fibre degeneration resulting from lesions of the nucleus interpositus posterior (NIP) of the cat cerebellum was studied on sections stained by the Nauta silver technique.(2)The total number of fibres given to the brachium conjunctivum by the NIP was very small.(3)Essentially two sites received terminals from the NIP contingent of the brachium conjunctivum: in the mesencephalon, the medial rubral region; in the thalamus, the lateral part of the nucleus ventralis lateralis and the adjoining medial region of the nucleus ventralis postero-lateralis and, more rostrally, the lateral part of the nucleus ventralis anterior.(4)An organization of these projections was disclosed, at the rubral and, even more predominantly, at the thalamic level.(5)The possible functional correlations of these findings are discussed.
