Honeycomb solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) can achieve high power density with improved thermo-mechanical durability at high temperatures [1]. In this study, a compact SOFC with catalytic partial oxidation (CPOX) reforming catalyst [2, 3] embedded in the flow channels of the porous honeycomb anode support was fabricated and evaluated. I-V measurements and gas chromatography analyses for the outlet gas were carried out while methane/air mixture gas was fed as fuel. The gas chromatograph detected hydrogen in the reformed gas. Temperature distribution in the cell was also measured.AcknowledgmentsThe authors are indebted to Professor Kohei Ito of Kyushu University for valuable discussions.ReferencesH. Nakajima, S.
