Though the catalytic decomposition of KC103 by Mn02 has been extensively studied in the past, 1 rela-tively little care had been taken to ensure the purity and structural propertiesof the materials used and to secure comparable data for the other MC103 salts. 2 The MCIO4 compounds in these regards have suffered even greater neglect. Accordingly, in the present study, previously well-characterized reactants were employed to ascertain the course of changes during the pyrolyses of the pure MC104 salts and of MC104 samples containing 10 mole% Mn02.
