Abstract Information about the papers presented at the joint meetings of the 9th International Workshop on Opportunistic Protists and the 57th annual meetings of the International Society of Protistologists. Among the papers presented were studies on Trypanosome antigenic variation and host-pathogenic interactions. One of the studies proposed that the diversity in variant surface glyco-protein might also function to overcome herd immunity by allowing transmission into cured hosts.
