Found conditioned suppression in groups of male albino rats (N= 60) which had received different truly random control procedures. Degree of conditioning did not covary with the number of CSs, UCSs, or chance pairings. Conditioning was determined by the location of pairings. If pairings occurred before nonpairings, excitatory conditioning was found.
