ingot by the single-roller melt-spinning technique in an Ar atmosphere. The ribbons were about 10 mm wide and about 40 mm thick. Amorphicity and thermal stability of melt-spun ribbon specimens were examined by X-ray diffractometry (CuK , 40 kV, 40 mA, hereafter denoted as XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) at a heating rate of 0.67 K/s in an Ar atmosphere. The porous metallic discs made of SUS316L were purchased from the Mott Corporation, USA. The pore sizes of the substrates having mesh sizes (media grade) of 0.2 mm, 0.5 mm and 2 mm are roughly estimated by SEM to be about 15 mm ,3 0mm and 70 mm, respectively. A disc is of 11 mm in diameter and of 1 mm in thickness. Besides, the porous filter of the Swagelok Co. Ltd. is also used in this study. The pore size is about 100 mm. The glassy ribbons were cut into the sample pieces of about 5 mm in width and about 20 mm in length.
