BACKGROUND: Patients with diabetes mellitus or renal failure may have calcified lower leg arteries, causing a falsely raised ankle/brachial index (ABI). In such cases, other combined noninvasive complementary observations may be useful. The purpose of this study was to investigate vascular complications of lower extremities in chronic hemodialyzed patients by measuring skin perfusion pressure (SPP) and the toe/brachial index (TBI).METHODS: Sixty-five patients treated with regular hemodialysis were recruited.
