A heat-stable, trypsin-labile coupling factor (F6) has been purified from bovine heart mitochondria. F6activity has been found in several isoproteins of similar size, but differing in net charge. F6is required for oxidative phosphorylation and32Pi—ATP exchange, as well as for DPN reduction by succinate and transhydrogenation with ATP as an energy source.
