The formation and glide of jogs on dissociated dislocations in copper alloys have been observed directly for the first time. Using the weak-beam method of electron microscopy, constrictions caused by jogs in the dissociated dislocations can be identified, and their motion duringin situstraining and annealing experiments can be followed. It is shown that it is also possible to study the intermediate stage of the formation of both jogs and kinks in these materials.
