Synthesis of the trimer, [(2-O-TPP)Ga{sup +3}]{sub 3} (2-O-TPP is a trianion of 2-hydroxy-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin) is described. NMR spectroscopy indicates that the trimer forms in a head-to-tail arrangement. Reversible cleavagereactions of the trimer under acidic or basic conditions was studied by NMR spectroscopy.
