The transport proteins for 25-hydroxycholecalciferol were studied in 22 species of fish, 12 of amphibian, 5 of reptile and 19 of bird. Fish with a cartilaginous skeleton and amphibians used lipoproteins for 25-hydroxycholecalciferol transport. Bony fish and reptiles had an alpha -globulin transport protein. Twelve species of bird used beta -globulin transport proteins, 4 species used albumin and 3 species used an alpha -globulin.
