The authors describe 2 patients (a 17-year-old teenager and a 22-year-old man from the Canary Islands) with sporadic acute Q fever who developed uncomplicated rhabdomyolysis, and summarize 5 previously reported cases. This report shows that acute infection withCoxiella burnetiimay precipitate skeletal muscle damage. In these 2 cases, serum levels of creatine kinase were found to be increased.
