Sonic measurements were made at a frequency of 5 kc./sec. by using a KLH pulse propagation meter at 22 C. and 55% RH Tensile loads of 0.05 g./den. were employed. X-ray crystallinity measurements were made by the method of Dumbleton and B~ wles.~ The orientation of the crystalline regions was determined from x-ray diffractometer azimuthal scans on the (T05) plane. The orientation parameter used was cos2+, where+ is the angle between the chain axis in a crystal and the fiber axis. This quantity was calculated from the __ width of the diffraction peak as-suming that the peak shape was Gaussian. 5 The cos2 4 values were used to determine the orientation function, jc, which is defined as
