Assuming that the formation of J/ψ resonances is inhibited in a plasma beyond a certain temperature, one can relate the amount of J/ψ suppression expected in high-energy nucleus-nucleus collisions to the spacetime evolution of the plasma formed in such collisions. In particular, we show that the momentum distribution of the J/ψ's provides information on the plasma lifetime.
