SummaryThe influence of metabolites of digoxin and digitoxin on86Rb-uptake by red blood cells was studied. All the metabolites tested were inhibitors of86Rb-uptake and could influence the results obtained by this assay method for plasma levels of digoxin and digitoxin. Their inhibitory activity on red cells was related to their cardioactivity.
