This survey of developmental abnormalities and genetic diseases of the respiratory tract, from the larynx to the pulmonary alveoli, emphasizes the advances made during the past 25 years. Useful previous reviews of various aspects of respiratory tract malformations have covered the respiratory tract generally, including nasal passages and sinuses, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs, diaphragm, and thoracic wall (1); the larynx (2, 3); trachea and bronchi (4); trachea, bronchi, and lungs (5, 6); bronchi and lungs (7, 8); and trachea, bronchus, and lung anomalies associated with congenital heart disease (9).
