The article focuses on the recommendations from the fifth scientific meeting to study the comorbidities with tempo-promandibular joint and muscle disorders (TMJDs) to reveal common mechanisms of disease. To launch a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to identify genes associated with chronic pain is the primary recommendation that emerged from the meeting. It is said that the result of the study would transform and dramatically change the nature of biomedical research.
