PATIENTS with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) include male homosexuals, intravenous drug abusers, and Haitian immigrants to the United States.123Approximately half the patients have contractedPneumocystis cariniipneumonia, a third Kaposi's sarcoma, and 10 per cent concurrent Kaposi's sarcoma andP. cariniipneumonia.
