This article reports voltage-clamp analyses of the rapid, reversible effects of a powerful toxin, a local anesthetic, and a tranquillizer [on Rana pipiens nodes]. All 3 affect the sodium conductance in the Hodgkin-Huxley model. This change can be interpreted in terms of a physical model.
