Objective: To examine the prevalence and risk factors of behavioral and emotional problems in Chinese children. Method: A sample of 2,940 children aged 6 through 11 years was randomly drawn from household registers in Shandong Province of China. Parents completed the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and a structured self-rating questionnaire. Results: The mean CBCL Total Problems score was 16.1 (SD = 14.0).
