The influence of acute pressure reduction on the differential light threshold was studied in 113 eyes of 75 patients with elevated intraocular pressure or very early stages of chronic open angle glaucoma. Systemic acetazolamide showed a tendency to improve the visual function, whereas topical epinephrine and timolol showed a tendency to decrease visual function while placebo and pindolol appeared to have no influence on the differential threshold.
