Comments, from a parental perspective, on the article by AR D'Augelli (see record 1998-10370-002) regarding the disclosure of a gay or bisexual orientation to families, and offers observations on behalf of the organization Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). It is contended that the D'Augelli et al research makes a major contribution by providing a measure of the difficulty families have in coping with gay adolescents and that the study confirms what PFLAG has found about the dilemma these adolescents face between seeking family support and risking rejection.(PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
