Three species of the zoanthid genus Epizoanthus Gray are recorded from the Porcupine Seabight, northeast Atlantic. All live commensally with pagurid crabs. The process of gametogenesis is described for the two deep-water species, E. paguriphilus and E. abyssorum, and is found to be similar to that of other Anthozoa. It is predicted that both deep-sea species have planktotrophic larvae although the oocyte diameter is much reduced at greater depths. Both of these species reproduce continually. The pattern of growth is established for two of the commensal pairs, and this indicates that the partnerships are uninterrupted during growth.
