A method is described for the determination of dissolved oxygen in hydrocarbons by a modified Winkler procedure. The procedure is easily run using simple equipment. Mercaptans do not appreciably affect the results, but peroxides interfere; a correction factor is proposed to compensate for the effects of peroxides. The repeatability of the method is good and the accu-racy appears comparable to that obtained by more laborious techniques.
