The search for hybrids derived from somatic crosses between specific cytolytic T-cells (CTL) and cell lines, which express the specific activity of the parental lymphocytes in our and many other laboratories has, sofar, not been successful (see this volume). There are a number of possible reasons for this failure, but it is difficult to obtain evidence distinguishing between the different possibilities without CTL populations which are absolutely pure.
