The gene (Muc1) was mapped by restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis of DNA from interspecific backcross mice, using a 500 bp fragment of the mouse mucin 1 gene as a probe. The gene order on chromosome 3 was centromere-Glrb-5.3±2.1 cM-Muc1/Thbs3/Bglap/Cd1/Pklr/Ntrk-0.9±0.9 cM-Fcgr/Cacy/D3Tu5/Mcl1.
