Pseudo-differntial operators of the nonregular class Sm pρ (r,N) are studied on Sobolev and Besov spaces for 1 ≤P≤ ∞. A symbolic calculus for compositions and the adjoint operator is developed. Applications to commutators are given. In particular, commutators of Calderō type are discussed.
