The developments in the integrated circuits technology led to the emergence of highly efficient and reliable DC-DC converters in wide range of power (few Watts to kilowatts). The low power application demands the use of flyback converter to implement the converter. The need of the higher efficiency at low power level requires the use of new improved rectification technology to reduce the rectification losses. The rectification losses are reduced by using the Synchronous rectification technique. Hence, the overall converter efficiency increases significantly. In this paper, the efficiency of the Synchronous flyback converter is compared with the conventional flyback converter of the same power rating. The rectification losses reduce to less than 50% with that of convention converter. The theoretical results have been validated with the hardware results.
